Cars in German Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Police reported they were contacted by a resident who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the substance was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the event," they added.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.

A high-ranking representative commented the attack left him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
